Janine Antoni’s artwork is very interesting. Her artwork is amazing to look at and to drift off while imaging the meaning behind something she created. My two favorite pieces were the rope and her self-portraits made out of soap. I was able to understand the significance of both, and they both were truly beautiful. I liked her other piece called “Eureka” but did not understand until she explained it. This was a noteworthy piece because it was inspired by the story of Archimedes. This piece recreated discovery involving both science and innovation. My first impression of that piece was that it had a feminine appearance. I say this because it was like an image of a child being born, due to the way she positioned her body with the videos and pictures coming out of the lard. All of Antoni’s work was very innovated with material use. I loved her piece made out of rawhide. I could stare at the piece all day because it is fun to look at. The transformation looks as though a cow is morphing into a human being. Maybe it represents humans killing the animals for selfish reasons. I mainly think this is an interesting piece because it is cool to look at and appreciate the way she molded it to sculpt the body.
