Touch Project for 3-D

Article Title: "Animals"

I was able to relate to this article because of my dogs. When the article said "Touch is a powerfully important sense among animals, for whom the slightest touch of an object or another animal triggers responses" made me think about how differently my dogs respond to the touch of water. The little one named Tuck, loves to play with water and the big one named Trinity, does not care for it. Even though it was a very cold day, that did not stop Tuck from jumping in and getting that stimulated feeling. Comparing my dogs to the other animals in the article, my dogs love the touching sensation of being petted, scrubbed, or brushed. It gives them a sense love.

Article Title: Kissing

The true meaning of a kiss

A loving connection
That bridges the open space
with physical touch

This haiku reflects a single act that expresses three different feelings through one kiss. The first thing I think of when I hear kissing is the touching sensation of two lips "engulfing one another". When I continued reading this article, I found another meaning for the word kiss. Our lips do not only to touch one another, it can share an essence of love with a touching sensation. The first line with in the haiku "A loving connection" first describes the love and romantic feeling towards a partner, the lip to lip touch shows a true connection as a couple becomes one. Another interpretation of a kiss can be comfort, such as when we "kiss our own hurt finger" to make a boo boo feel better. Then when the article, mentioned how "Mary Magdalen kissed the feet of Jesus" indicating how Jesus is an important person made me realize kissing can be an expression of humble respect.

Shoes made out of Masking Tape

First I made a mock up to get an idea:

After getting an idea:

I used scraps to make the soul of the shoe.

This was only the beginning of my 3- Dimensional class. Working 3 dimensional is my strength; I went in thinking this would be easy. But working with masking tape was harder than I thought. The toe of the shoe was the hardest part,  I was very thankful that I created a mock up first rather than starting with tape right away. This was not he same as molding clay, I really had to manipulate it to make it into the shape I wanted to accomplish.
